“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”
– Thich Nhat Hanh
Anxiety comes in many forms.
There are many types of anxiety, and people describe anxiety in many ways.
Basic anxiety is often considered a feeling of uneasiness or worry. It’s a normal human emotion usually triggered by stress or some perceived threat or concern.
When anxiety begins to be more consistent or starts to interfere with your daily life, it’s time to reach out for help.
People express anxiety in many ways.
The symptoms of and struggles with anxiety can vary, but they all create a sense of being out of control.
Some individuals experience excessive worrying about what could go wrong. Those racing thoughts might be accompanied by sweaty palms and a pounding heart that seems out of your chest.
Anxiety can feel like every worst-case scenario is playing out in your head at once. It can feel like dizziness, lightheadedness, or shortness of breath.
Struggling with anxiety can feel like an overwhelming, dreadful emotion. And for those who confront it regularly, it can be exhausting, like you can’t shut your brain off to go to sleep.
Panic attacks can feel so bad and be so frightening that they sometimes bring people to the emergency room.

There are a lot of factors that can cause persistent anxiety. These factors can be the result of family history, traumatic events, genetics, environment, medical conditions, and the ways you learn to cope are examples.
